This is a sponsored post for Carnival Cruise Lines. В All opinions are my own. В I have been on 6 Carnival Cruises, LOVE them, and would cruise withВ them every single darn year if I could. В
Ermehgahhhhh.
My hubby and I just got back from our Carnival Cruise and it was seriously the best decision we have made, for our marriage, in years!
Scott and I have not been on a vacation, just the two of us, since 2013, when we celebrated our 5 year anniversary. В I’m still wondering why we waited so long to do this, but I am so glad we did.
We drove to the Port of Galveston and cruised for 4 nights on the Carnival Liberty. В This was our 6th cruise together and our 5th Carnival Cruise. We like to think we are sort of experts in the vacations-on-a-cruise-line-department.
But the truth is, we threw all of our knowledge out the window during our vacation, because our main goal was to be lazy.
Moms: В Can we agree on something? В Vacationing with kids is harder than real life. В It is more work than any average day around my house. В We wanted to take full advantage of having 5 kid free days together. В What better way to spend the time than by taking 2 naps a day and lounging in the sun together?
Carnival gave us a balcony room and it was something we used a ton. В I looked forward toВ having their free room service deliver coffee to our room each morning. I sat outside, sipping my coffee, В out by the ocean, В feeling grateful for the opportunity to take in the view.
People always ask me about why we are so crazy about cruises. В The answer is simple. В THE FOOD.
If you are a foodie, you will love cruising.
I have been on vacations where we flew out of the country and the food was not good.
And it ruined my whole trip. В It sounds silly but it really is the truth.
I love good food and it’s evident by the extra 10lbs I can’t seem to lose.
The absolute highlight of the trip was The Chef’s Table dinner. В It was truly the best meal I have had in my life. В The dinner started with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres hosted by the Liberty’sВ Master Executive Chef.
WeВ received a privateВ tour of theВ galley in operation. The evening concluded with a mind-blowing full-service dinner of amazing appetizers, entrees and desserts not found on the regular dining menu.
It was fascinating to see the boat’s humongous kitchen in action. В Carnival makes everything from scratch. В There were huge containers full of chicken bones making homemade stock.
The Master Chef told us they use 12,000 dozen eggs for a 5 day cruise.
Crazy!
We even got to see them make their famous chocolate melting cake and were sent home with their secret recipe. В It only contains 5 ingredients. В I have never blogged about food or recipes before but I might have to change that so I can give you the recipe!
The following night we had dinner on the boat’s Steakhouse and it was almost as amazing as the Chef’s Table.
I know it seems like all we did was eat but I don’t have much else to report in the way of activities. В We were so lazy, taking naps, dipping in the pool, and eating amazing food.
I did miss my kiddos when I saw all of the awesome Dr. Seuss activities they had on board. В They even had a Green Eggs & Ham Breakfast that I could envision Axton sitting at, beaming ear to ear.
I almost let my mom guilt sink in. В Almost.
We did get off our butts to visit our port of call, Cozumel. В We hopped in a cab and went straight to Paradise Beach. one of Cozumel’s best beaches. В We got massages on theВ sand and ate fresh guacamole and salsa.
I’m #sorrynotsorry I don’t have a lot of action packed adventure to share with you regarding our trip! В But some R&R was exactly what the doctor ordered!
Disclosure: Carnival Cruise Line provided us a free cruise as compensation for this blog post. В All opinions are my own. В I love me some Carnival and will cruise with them again and again!
