Carnival's most popular warm-weather cruises are those to the Caribbean. Its colorful Fun Ships sail from ports across the U. S. to the Caribbean year-round. So a packing list for a Caribbean cruise includes plenty of shorts, T-shirts, swimsuits, sandals, hats, sunglasses and walking shoes. That will take care of you for most any daytime activities. Evening attire is a little more specific. Like most mainstream cruise lines, Carnival has become more relaxed and casual. While there are still optional "Elegant Nights," there are just as many guests dressed in jacket and slacks and cocktail dresses as in formal gowns and tuxedos. If you don't want to dress up at all, plan to dine in the casual restaurant on these nights. On most nights, a collared shirt and khakis for men and a nice top and slacks or a skirt for women are appropriate. Carnival, like all cruise lines, bans shorts and T-shirts in the dining areas in the evenings. Carnival staff recommend that women wear low-heeled shoes for safety reasons.
