Ways to Enjoy Inland Exploration between Cruises

Because of its maritime nature, the most that travelers experience out of cruises are the cities located along seashores. Travelers who may crave more than that can get what they want. There are cruises that accommodate inland travel between sea travels.

There are rail excursions where travelers can board a train and explore the wilderness of Alaska and/or Canada, for example. There are railways that accommodate cruise passengers to travel among the Canadian Rockies and through British Columbia and Alberta. Travelers get to feel like they have gone back in time when railways were the prominent travel routes and not (yet) airplanes. They also get to enjoy dazzling scenery while in the comfort of the train compartments, on railways where they could not have enjoyed the marvelous views any other way.

There are also shore excursions available in some cruises, especially those with destinations including the Caribbean island of Barbados, an Alaskan glacier, or the Greek island of Mykonos. People get to enjoy hiking, trekking, or lounging in the sand enjoying the unique smell of the breeze and the gentle sunshine. Travelers can also enjoy exploring the city streets, visiting markets or museums.
