Spending the day- One important concern that caregivers need to address is- what should they indulge their patients in once the routine tasks of bathing and eating are over. To keep the seniors busy, caregivers must look for new activities. While listing the things to do, as a care provider, you must remember to build on previous skills that the person has. This is a better way than spending time and energy in teaching something new. Be patient and give them simple things to do using their current skills and abilities. Tell them very clearly what you want them to do and how can they do it in steps. Do not forget to praise them for every step completed. Step by step process is easier for them to understand as well as perform the activity better. If they are showing signs of agitation or frustration with an activity, then drop the exercise and take up something they like.
