This will be our last cruise with Carnival.

The Triumph is simply falling apart. While laying out deck the ship blew hot oil out of the smokestack onto sunbathers. The crew had to help everyone clean themselves and then shut down the deck to clean it. Before the oil incident, the Triumph already had 1/3 of its deck shut off (for the whole cruise) while they refinished it. Because the needed the construction staging area, the sliding margradome never opened and the back pool was cold and shady. Renovating with guests onboard is awful. We heard saws running and smelled epoxy deck paint the entire cruise. Plus with so much deck space closed, there was a major lack of seating pretty much anytime of day.

The Triumph is in dire need of serious renovations. There isn't a surface not covered in rust and dirt. The staterooms are the worst I've ever seen in 30 years of cruising. Read about the room below. Sticky. The other couple cruising with us had holes in the walls in their More stateroom and their couch was ripped all over.

Dining: Carnival's buffet hasn't been great for years and they proved that again. However, the dining rooms meal quality has improved. Our servers in the dining room were awesome. Called everyone by name and always kept our glasses full. Guys Burgers and the burritos were good as always.

Room Service/Guest Services: They basically never answer. Every evening we like to have a snack before bed. We had to walk down to guest services to ask to order. Guest services was also not answering their phones. It didn't matter what time of day, both just did not answer their phones.

Entertainment: This was the worst entertainment we have ever seen on a boat. Only one deck party even through the weather was beautiful every night. The deck party consisted of 15 songs like the Cha-Cha Slide and the Macarena then they shut down the music and lights. The stand up comedians were bad. One comedian badgered people in wheelchairs in the room. Then made fun of gay soldiers in the room. The other comedian kept talking about his balls night after night. Then he proceeded to make "white people do this and black people do that" jokes. The entertainment was very poor across the boat.

Crew: The crew on the Triumph was one of the most friendly crews we have ever experienced on any cruise. The crew was the best part of the trip. Less

Books from Carnival Cruises and Love Boat DVDs

The Buffets of Carnival is an entaining secrets book by the ships' chefs.

The Love Boat was a popular TV series showcasing Princess Cruises from September 24, 1977, until May 24, 1986 on ABC. Scherbak Ship Models of Englewood Co creates 1:1250 scale models of many Carnival Corporation. They are called waterline models because they are displayed sitting in model water, not showing the hull. With plenty of detail, they only run $200 to $300. A nice way to remember a special cruise.

There are many other model cruise ships in the market as well.
